Stand. Breathe. Nock. Draw. Aim. Release. Simple, really.
The Basics
At the Ironman, if archers choose, they will shoot two rounds of Target (60 arrows) and two rounds of 3D (40 arrows)
on Saturday. On Sunday morning, one round of Target (30 arrows) and one round of 3D (20 arrows) are shot.
That’s 150 opportunities for our competitors to give it their best shot .
However, archers may choose to shoot only Target or only 3D, with options of shooting two rounds on Saturday and/or one round on Sunday. A designated area for warm-up shots is also provided.
All shooting equipment and gear must be supplied by the competitors themselves and be in sound working order.
3D and paper targets on blocks will be supplied by the Event organizers.
Timers, judges, safety teams and score keepers are part of the Event Officials Team, and must be heeded accordingly.
Target & 3D
The Target event will be run Vegas Shoot style with “big tens” and “X’s” in play, but with Archery Alberta ASA classes being used and with the addition of the Sighted Recurve class.
The 3D event will be run according to Archery Alberta ASA rules and classes with scoring 12’s. These rules can be found on the Archery Alberta website under the ASA Tour tab. Archery Alberta
Shoot-offs and raffles are fun.
Saturday evening, there will be an elimination-style 3D shoot-off for those competitors who wish to step up to the line. One-time, cash (re)buy-in for those competing once the event begins.
The last ten Compound archers and last five Traditional archers left standing in the 3D Shoot-off will each receive a cash pay-out.
Sunday afternoon, there will be an elimination-style Target shoot-off for all interested competitors, and the final eight archers competing will receive a cash pay-out.
As well, for classes with more than five women or ten men registered, the Sunday afternoon ASA Shoot-off will take place.
And for those registered in the Championship classes, there’s a shoot-off for them too.
And if that wasn’t exciting enough, there will also be raffles,
50/50 draws and door prizes to be won.
Every competitor will be given one free ticket for the door prize draw- but additional ones may be purchased from our helpful volunteer team.
Trophies, Medals,
& Cash
On Sunday afternoon, the top five in each qualifying Championship class (female and male) shoot for MORE cash, with the top three walking away with another pay-out.
The top five in all other classes that have more than ten male competitors or five female competitors registered will also compete in a shoot-off, with the final three left standing winning cash as well.
Trophies will be presented to the “Ironpeople” – Championship Ironman & Championship Ironwoman, Senior Ironman & Senior Ironwoman, Super Senior Ironman, Ironman & Ironwoman, Iron Traditional, Hunter Ironman, Iron Youth, and Iron Young Adult.
Medals will be presented to the Target event class winners, and all those competing in Junior Eagle & Eagle categories will be recognized for their achievement.
Non-Championship 3D archers will be flighted and cash prizes awarded.
Shoot straight.

Scheduling
Scheduling is done by the organizing committee, however, registered non-Championship class archers may indicate their preference for shooting times on a first-come, first-served basis.
If non-Championship archers wish to shoot with a specific group of people, the group must be registered at the same time. Families may shoot together provided there is one non-family member also in the group.

Timing
The Target and 3D events run concurrently. Doors open at 7am each day, with the day’s events beginning at 8:00 a.m. Time slots run 1 hour and 15 minutes long. The last time slots on Saturday are 4:45 p.m. and Sunday at 11:45 a.m.
To keep on schedule, it is imperative competitors stay within the hour and fifteen minute time limit. In particular, the ability to efficiently score a round and return to the line promptly is desired.
